My company downsized in 2009 and I lost a longtime job because of budget cuts. It was cool they paid me a settlement for my severance package. For years I’d been their monkey and I definitely understood the need to trim the fat but I didn’t think I’d get axed. I contested but it ran long so I had to move to a place I could afford. The old office dealt with claim jumpers and bail bonds so I was used to the element. These guys were fresh out of options since even in this day and age no one wants to hire an ex-con. To their credit they arrived on time to do the packing. Within thirty minutes my couch was covered in bubble wrap and my bed frame disassembled.
